If you came here looking for a trailer, I'm sorry. There isn't one today.
I started Trailer Babu in 2019 for a pretty simple reason: I love trailers. I'm the guy who watches a new one five times on the day it drops, pauses on random frames, and then forwards it to friends who never asked. I wanted one place where every upcoming trailer lived. Nobody was building it the way I wanted, so I built it.
For three years, that's what this site was. I'd find the trailers, put them up, match them to the right film and keep everything current. Somewhere along the way, the thing I did for fun became something I had to keep up with. It took a little more of my time every month, and I never figured out a way for it to pay for itself.
In 2022, I stopped. I thought about it for a long time before I did, and I won't pretend it didn't sting. Some projects you just get attached to.
I haven't stopped thinking about it, though. Most of what I did by hand back then (searching for new trailers, figuring out which film they belonged to, getting them on the site) is exactly the kind of work AI is now getting good at. I can picture an agent doing all the hunting, so the site can go back to being about the watching. I don't know what that looks like yet, and I'd rather get it right than rush it. So for now, Trailer Babu is on hold.
When it does come back, it'll look different. If you want a preview of where my head is at, have a look at MovieTrakr, the other little thing I've been building. Log in, mark what you've watched, add films to your watchlist, rate them and say whether you liked them or not. Indian and Hollywood releases, all in one place. I like how it turned out, and the new Trailer Babu will be built along the same lines.
And to everyone who followed Trailer Babu, shared a trailer, messaged me or just kept coming back to see what was new: thank you. You made a side project feel like it mattered, and I haven't forgotten that.
